Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (also simply known as Captain Underpants) is an upcoming American 3D computer-animated superhero action-comedy film based on the children's novel series of the same name by Dav Pilkey. The film is being produced by DreamWorks Animation and Scholastic Entertainment, with the animation by Mikros Image. It is being directed by David Soren and Rob Letterman, and stars the voices of Ed Helms, Kevin Hart, Nick Kroll, Thomas Middleditch, Jordan Peele and Kristen Schaal.
The film is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2017 in 3D and 2D by DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox. It will be the last DreamWorks Animation film distributed by 20th Century Fox due to the following NBCUniversal's acquisition of DreamWorks Animation, which will start in 2019 with the release of How to Train Your Dragon 3.
